Truchas #718
The Truchas Chapter, based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has more than 500 members. We work to carry out TU’s vision in the waters of northern New Mexico through our conservation projects and youth programs, through our fund-raising efforts, and our communications and advocacy efforts.
Through our conservation projects, the Truchas Chapter seeks to secure the remaining populations of native Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout and to restore that species into more of its historical waters. We also seek to improve the condition of the watersheds in northern New Mexico through habitat improvement projects, river cleanups, and advocacy.
With our youth programs, we instill a strong connection with our rivers by teaching young people about the wildlife that inhabits them so future generations are moved to protect these rivers and their wildlife as much passion as we have.
Truchas Chapter forms partnerships wherever possible with state and federal wildlife and public lands agencies, with schools, and with non-governmental organizations. The Chapter carries out its work entirely with volunteers. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, and contributions to Truchas Chapter are tax-deductible.
